Question by Cath: Getting a job in a law firm London?
Hi I’m 22 and currently working as a chef de Partie in Surrey. I am starting a BA hons in law in February as part of the open university as this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I would like to be able to get a job as any position low within a law firm so that I can learn on the job as well as through my studies. I am just wondering what the best way to do that would be? I am not yet qualified in anything to do with law but I am hardworking and would be willing to do anything. Thanks

You’ve got nothing to lose by writing directly to a range of London law firms and saying what you’ve said in this question. Do be aware, though, that they have hundreds of such approaches every month (in some cases every week), so take time to word your application very carefully and ‘sell’ yourself as much as you can.

Lawyers are great fans of food…one possibility is to send in your application accompanied by some homemade biscuits or cake (anything you can pack securely), which will certainly show originality and determination!

Each State has different laws. Generally speaking, when you separate you can go to Court and ask for spousal and child support. The Court usually orders spousal support and child support. Your Husband can also ask that you be ordered not to take the child out of the country. The Court may order that you not take the child out of the country. Hard to say because there are a lot of factors that will have an influence on the Court. The best thing to do is talk with an attorney in your city.

Morning Edition, October 3, 2005 · Like Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers has spent her career breaking new ground for women. Miers clerked for a judge in Dallas before becoming the first female partner of a major Dallas law firm.

lemon law
by DVS1mn

Question by thetaylorgirls2: Does Alabama have a lemon law to protect car buyers when the car is bought from an individual?
In mid-September I bought a car from an acquaintance who is a mechanic. After a “precautionary inspection” by her and another inspection by one of her mechanic friends, she assured me the car was in good working order. Tuesday morning the car died on me and was towed to a local machine shop. The car threw a rod. The engine has to be replaced. So far, the cheapest estimate is $ 1,000 MORE than I paid for the car. Do I have an recourse?

Nope. Lemon laws are for new cars. Cars sold by individuals are sold “as is”. With any car its your job as a buying to make sure the car is in an acceptable condition.

Question by Ann: How much does a criminal defense attorney make a year?
For a first year lawyer working in New York City?

Best answer:

Answer by King Solomon
Some defense lawyers make $ 35000 a year, Having a Law degree in no way shape or form guarantees you a 6 figure plus salary. I have met dozens of Lawyers/ Doctors/ Police/ accountants/ Teachers who dropped out of their professions because they made peanuts. Its the same for every profession . For example , did you know that there are over 2500 boxers in the USA but only a 1/2 dozen can sell out a performance ? Did you know that some actors/ actresses only make $ 300 a week ?
