The spiraling deficit diminishes consumer confidence which is instrumental to motivate the economy.
10 unemployment uses resources welfare/benefits and lends it self to crime.
Has gov abused this priveledge too long for too much?
Kyle So no debt is too much ... is that what youre telling me?
No I dont have any loans or credit cards and I cant afford to shop at the mall because gainful employment is scarce.
I dont deny that gov can be in debt and still run the country efficiently but at some point there must be a limit to the amt. of debt. I think its over the limit now because it abused the power.

Can you explain to me why government spending makes you want to buy less at the mall?

Also spending more then what is available is as much a part of the American ethos as apple pie and the 4th of July.

Do you or someone you know have a mortgage? Car loan? Student loans? Or any type of debt that if called in would put the individual in dire financial circumstances?

People who call for the government to spend money like every day people should ask themselves if they are prepared to pay the balance on their houses and cars...tomorrow.

No we should just declare ourselves as the new socialist order we have become and print up as much money as we need to cover our programs. Yes I am being facetious. There is a lawits called the constitution and it provides no government powers to do what your government is doing. Wake up Americacome out of your caves Its dark in there

Bush should have to give up his personal fortune for the condition he left the country in. Now there is no way out. We have to borrow to survive. I live in a prosperous state but so I cant imagine what it is like for places where the unemployment is high there are no places to get jobs. Things are so bad in some areas but you have to realize that those areas are not going to have people on the internet.

They have tried balance budget bills but they never seem to work.
For one thing government debt is not the same as individual or business debt.
A government can spend more than it brings in and in fact in recessions will usually deliberately do so.
